Georgian Amethyst, Diamond, & Enamel Necklace

An antique amethyst, enamel, and diamond necklace. Featuring seven rectangular-step cut amethyst, claw set in yellow gold. A diamond frame hangs from each of the amethysts, with a larger old cut diamond in a foliate motif. Each of the amethysts is separated by an old cut diamond, articulated on the chain. The necklace is finished with four enamel and diamond articles, fashioned as an egg, half decorated with scalloped white enamel, a central diamond band, and the other half in brushed gold. The necklace is finished with a byzantine link chain and a clasp set with a single amethyst.
The colour of the amethyst in this necklace is exceptional, with deep red colours coming through the purple body colour. The necklace is Georgian, likely made for the Russian court. The necklace is accompanied by a bracelet, although this is a later piece. The suite is stunning, perfect for an elegant night out.
